Pearls of the Sea

I've been waiting for an excuse to use this paper pack ever since I saw it & I finally found the challenge to suit! Although this card started out as a standard square, it morphed into a full underwater center step fold card scene.

This week over at Outlawz Saturday Paper A La Mode challenge you must use Glitter! Now how hard can that really be? Because my darling Husband absolutely loathes glitter (especially all over the ironing board which is set up in my studio) I've only used glitter cardstock. Wishing You...

Today I've created a card for a friends upcoming wedding. I've used the very elegant Sassy Studio Designs 'Bella Bride' stamp. This is my first attempt at a centre step fold (instructions found here).

The flowers were made using x3 large & x3 medium punched daisies: petals trimmed, wet, scrunched & layered. They were spritzed with Smooch.

Steamee McPunk

The upcoming challenge over at Outlawz Saturday Paper Ala Mode Challenge is 'Off the Wall'. The theme is to work with something that you wouldn't usually work with. So I've chosen Steampunk. I've always admired this style but have never attempted it so this was a perfect challenge to give it a go especially when this gorgeous image from sponsor Rick St Dennis was generously provided.

I created the background yellow paper by blending Distress Ink Vintage Photo all over & spritzed with water. Once dried it was stamped with the cogs in Gathered Twig. The die cut cogs & the rust strip were created with a faux rust effect. A quick explanation is that I swiped Weathered Wood stain on white cardstock & dusted with embossing powder while still wet & shock off the excess. Once it was heat set I then blended both Vintage Photo & Gathered Twig over it. Pretty simple but very effective!

You Are Fabulous!

After a crappy week last week, this week has been very exciting. Not only has 'Twitchy' arrived (aka Miss Piper Rose) but I'm very happy to announce that I've been selected to be a part of the inaugural Design Team for Dies R Us! They have set up a brand new blog which has just started, so pop over there & check out the other talented artists I'm working with. I'm looking forward to working with the Dies R Us team and creating many wonderful projects in the coming weeks/months.
