I've been stuck home all week with a nasty head cold, but thankfully I was able to spend a bit of quite time in my studio uninterrupted to have a play with a couple of new techniques I've been meaning to test out for some time.
This is my first effort at a tri-fold shutter card and I love how easy it was to create! After visiting a number of blogs to find dimensions for a larger sized card, I upped the ratios to create my own. As I like to work with central images, I only used a narrow top and base band unlike many others I looked at.
Here are the dimensions so that the finished folded card will fit nicely into a standard C6 envelope.
- Overall measurements are 6" x 12"
- Score lines (dotted) are made down the entire card at 2", 4", 8" & 10" (the score lines in the middle of the card at the 2" and 10" marks are covered once complete)
- Two cuts (red lines) are then made from the 2" to 10" score lines
Designer paper measurements are as follows:
- Front/Rear Vertical Panels (x2) = 4.5cm x 14.5cm
- Centre Squares (x3) = 9.5cm v 9.5cm
- Short Internal Band Strips (x3) = 4.5cm x 2.2cm
- Long Internal Band Strips (x2) = 9.5cm x 2.2cm
Here is a close up of the stamp 'Wonder Regan' from Sassy Studio Designs. I used the following Copics to colour her.
Skin: E50 E51 E21 R20
Hair: YR14 YR18 YR09
Outfit: B04 RV09 RV19 R39 BV000 BV02
And a couple more close ups of the inside of the card, of the Memory Box Cityscape Silhouette and Die-Versions Pow dies, cut twice (once with glitter cardstock and once with black) to give shadow and depth.
To create the sky background I cut a number of Impression Obsession Clouds from heavy cardstock and attached them to another piece of card to create a cloud border. After colouring I masked my image before creating the cloud background. I used Broken China Distress Ink and a blending tool to lightly shade over the cloud border. Starting at the top, I moved the border down the image rotating the cloud border slightly to different angles and along different sections of the border so that is wasn't uniform.
Thanks for stopping by and reading through my long blog. I hope it was informative without being overloading and I hope I've inspired you to give it a try!
I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
This card has been used as inspiration for Outlawz Saturday Paper Al a Mode challenge for 'Superheros' sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs, and for Dies R Us.
