Watercolour Roses

I've been playing around with my watercolours learning a new technique for loose floral roses. Here are a couple of my first attempts, one with paint pans and the other with brush markers.

Abstract Leave

Another lazy weekend spent inside. This is the result of wet on wet colours and a new mandala template.

Lovely Fairy

I'm really enjoying to see how I can use my watercolour brush markers to their full extent. This is my first effort at colouring a digi stamp up. Not as much definition as with markers or with pencils, but can definitely see progress.

I've been waiting patiently for my new 'toys' to arrive as the post has been incredibly slow during this covid environment. But my Prima Marketing Art Philosophy Watercolor Confection sets finally arrived!

It was very soothing to create the colour swatches. Who knew you could make so many colours from a set of 12!

Floral Bookmark

Still playing around with my new watercolour brush markers. This time a simple floral pattern. This one has already been claimed by my daughter, before it was even finished!

Geometric Bookmark

After trying the full gemstone, I thought it would be fun to try a the same technique with the crystalline pattern as a bookmark. This is what I came up with.

Gemstone

I'd been eyeing off this technique I'd flicked past Jamie Lyndry's Instagram site for a while, and thought I'd love to try it out. It seemed simple enough so I cased it. After hand sketching the image it was certainly simple and fun watching the colours mix together on each individual facet. Will certainly be trying this out again with different colour combo.

Misty Pines

This is my first attempt at the Misty Pines scene using my brush watercolours. I did a bookmark to keep it small to learn the technique. Lots more practice to go, but so much fun!

Hex colour chart

I received a big set of brush watercolour marker for Mother's Day to go with the set(s) I already had, so I wanted to create a colour chart to represent all the colours together. This is what I came up with. So satisfying seeing it all together.

Sunflowers

I've been playing with watercolour sunflowers this weekend. I've tried a couple of different styles and techniques. Still got lots to learn and much more practice to go.

This is my first play with the free templates from Josie Lewis using my watercolour brush markers. Who doesn't love a rainbow?!...

Sending smiles across the miles

Another play with my sunset colours. This time I turned them around for a pretty gradient and teamed them up with silhouette pines.

Dream Big

I've had this magazine freebie dreamcatcher stamp set for a little while, but never really done anything with it. So I decided to stamp it up and have a crack at being messy!

Another try at painting poppies. Still playing around with loose watercolour flowers.

Life's a climb, but the view is great

Having a play with some sunset colour combinations and learning how to do silhouette painting. This stamp quote fitted the scene perfectly.

Love Lives Here

My sister just moved into her forever home so I wanted to make her a housewarming card. I had no idea what I was doing with the painting but I tried to recreate the amazing view she has of the ocean from her hilly, tree-lined abode. It was fun and kind of successful too.

Lest We Forget

Being Anzac Day here, I thought is was only fitting to attempt to paint a poppy flower. This is my first attempt (x3).
