Love Life

Having some fun with colouring using Distress Markers. Haven't made a simple card for a while so love how it turned out.

40 & Fabulous!

My lovely SIL celebrated her milestone 40th birthday recently in style with a surprise roller disco party! Was so much fun and I only fell over 3 times & didn't break anything which is always good! I made her this special pop-up box card and had fun creating the background brick paper with multiple stencils and distress inks. The image was coloured in Distress inks too and the scene came together so well.

   

Genie

I love this little Genie by Saturated Canary. I coloured her a while ago with Distress Markers but only recently created the background with Distress Inks & Nuvo Embellishment Mousse over a Tim Holtz stencil.

I've recently spent some time on holiday on the great Murray River forced to sit down and do nothing. As I couldn't take my Copics away with me, I was able to put my new collection of Distress Markers into my bag to have a play with. My favourite embellishment is dies. I love how versatile they are, how you can get them in pretty much any design and can modify them to make them fit your image. For example the above card used this die which I modified to look like a spell had been cast.

Wedding Glasses

Happy New Year to everyone! The first challenge for 2015 starting over at Outlawz Saturday Paper Ala Mode challenge is getting back to the heart of using paper and the new challenge theme is to 'Make Your Own Background Paper'. It is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps so please pop over and join in the fun. This is the first time that I've used my new Distress Markers too, so its a new technique for me.

Card ingredients include:

Stamps: Bugaboo Stamps 'Wedding Glasses', unknown background stamp (from stash), Kaszazz 'Conragtulations' sentiment.

Distress Markers: Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Aged Mahogany, Weathered Wood.

Papers:  Gold foil card, ivory cardstock.

Dies: Cheery Lyn Designs Lace Corner Deco.

Other: Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Tarnished Bronze Distress Stain, gold glitter washi tape, sheer ribbon, gold embossing powder, Flamingo & Platinum Pearl Liquid Pearls.

For the making of my background paper, I used the Tarnished Bronze Distress Stain on the stamp (unknown origin of stamp pulled from my stash, sorry). It's a pity that you can't see the lovely shine of the stain in the photo either as it really adds to the golden effect. I then edged it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink prior to distressing the edges with a distressing tool. Because the stamp is only square in size I had to stamp it twice and line it up before adding the sheer ribbon & gold glitter washi tape to hide the join.
